Digital Nomad (Category Z)
Visa and residence permit for remote workers employed by or serving non-Greek employers/clients, with after-tax income thresholds.
- Processing time
- Type D visa: apply at Greek consulate before travel (timing varies by consulate). Residence permit after entry: 1–3 months. Note: in-country applications from tourist or visa-free entry are abolished under Law 5275/2026 (effective 5 February 2026).

- 12-month visa; convertible to a 2-year renewable residence permit

- 7 years lawful residence (if continuously maintained)
Requirements
- Remote work for non-Greek employers/clients (may not work for Greek companies or in the local market)
- After-tax monthly income: EUR 3,500 single; EUR 4,200 with spouse; EUR 4,830 with an additional dependent
- Private health insurance
- Proof of accommodation in Greece
- Clean criminal record from each country of residence in last 5 years
