A non-renewable long-term visa allowing non-EEA remote workers and their families to stay in Iceland up to 180 days, subject to a high income threshold. It does not lead to PR or citizenship.

Requirements

  • Non-EEA national who is visa-exempt/eligible
  • Monthly income of 1,000,000 ISK (single) or 1,300,000 ISK (with spouse/partner and/or children under 18)
  • Employer confirmation permitting remote work from Iceland, or proof of foreign self-employment
  • Private health insurance valid in Iceland for the entire stay
  • Cannot work for an Icelandic employer; no kennitala issued

  • Passport photo 35x45 mm required
  • Passport copy valid at least 90 days beyond the visa required
  • Proof of purpose (employer remote-work confirmation or proof of foreign self-employment) required
