A sponsor holding a qualifying permit obtains a favourable IGI opinion (within 3 months), then the family member applies for a reunification long-stay visa within 60 days and a residence permit (decided within 30 days). Family of Romanian citizens apply directly at a mission.

Requirements

  • Sponsor holds a permit valid at least 1 year, EU Blue Card, ICT/Mobile-ICT, long-term residence, or refugee/subsidiary protection
  • Sponsor applies to IGI for a favourable opinion on reunification
  • Family member applies for the reunification long-stay visa within 60 days of the favourable opinion
  • Eligible members: spouse, minor (incl. adopted) children, dependent ascendants, dependent adult children

    IGI issues opinion

    IGI issues the opinion within 3 months.

    Apply for reunification visa

    Family member applies for the family-reunification long-stay visa at a Romanian mission within 60 days of the favourable opinion.

    Apply for residence permit

    After arrival, apply for the family-member residence permit — decided within 30 days.
