EU Blue Card for highly qualified employment
Permit for highly qualified non-EU/EEA workers with a Swedish job offer requiring higher education or equivalent experience and a salary of at least 1.25x the average Swedish salary (SEK 52,000/month). From 1 June 2026 the initial permit can be valid up to 4 years.

- 75% of complete applications decided within 1 month; incomplete applications within 3 months.
- Validity
- At least 9 months and up to 4 years on first grant.
- Language requirement
- No language requirement for the permit itself.
- Permanent residence
- Eligible for permanent residence after a qualifying period of legal residence and work.

- Higher education of at least 180 credits OR at least 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Highly qualified employment contract of at least 6 months
- Salary of at least 1.25x the average Swedish salary (SEK 52,000/month)
- Comprehensive health insurance covering medical care and repatriation
