Residence permit for highly qualified third-country employment. Requires a university degree (or advanced ICT skills), an employment contract of at least 6 months, and a salary of at least 1.2 times the average Slovak wage.

Employer reports vacancy
The employer reports the highly-qualified vacancy to the Labour Office (waived if the applicant holds a national visa in SK's interest or temporary residence for employment continuing the same job).

The Labour Office issues the highly-qualified vacancy confirmation.

File Blue Card application
Within 180 days of the confirmation, file the Blue Card application at a Slovak embassy abroad or, if legally resident in SK, at the Foreign Police. A complete filing entitles the applicant to legal stay and to start work pending the decision. Fee EUR 250 plus card fee.

Post-approval obligations
Submit the medical report within 30 days of collecting the card and conclude health insurance within 3 working days.
