Post-Graduation Residence to Seek Work or Start a Business (9 months)
Graduates of Slovak universities (including Bachelor's) may renew their study residence for 9 months to look for employment or start a business. Graduates may work without a work permit or vacancy confirmation during this period.

Process Steps

Graduate from a Slovak university
Complete the final exam and obtain a Bachelor's, Master's, or doctoral degree.

Apply to renew residence for 9 months
Apply in person or electronically (portal.minv.sk) no later than the last day of current residence validity, attaching the notarised diploma/graduation confirmation. After 30 days from completing studies the Foreign Police may begin cancelling the study residence (after written notice).

Seek work or start a business
During the 9 months the graduate may work without a work permit or vacancy confirmation, or start a business; then change to employment residence (usually 5 years) with an employer confirmation plus notarised diploma.
