Family Reunification Residence

Foreign nationals with family ties to a Kosovo resident may apply for a temporary family reunification residence permit (€30 administrative tax) or, after qualifying, a permanent residence permit on family grounds (€70 administrative tax). These are two separate sequential permits at different stages; the fees are not combined or additive.

Requirements

  • Valid travel document (validity at least 3 months beyond the permit period)
  • Marriage certificate, family-unity certificate, or children's birth certificate (or proof of adoption/guardianship)
  • Identification document of the Kosovo-citizen or resident sponsor
  • Proof of sufficient means to support dependents
  • Proof of secured housing (ownership proof or notarised lease) meeting minimum housing-space norms
  • Certificate of not being under investigation, translated into an official language
  • Health insurance
  • No entry ban to Kosovo
  • Vaccination proof if arriving from an epidemic-declared country
  • For cohabitation cases: proof of 3 years' cohabitation or birth certificate of a common child

Process Steps

    Assemble relationship and sponsor documents

    Gather the marriage/birth/family certificate, sponsor's ID, and housing proof.

    Assemble supporting documents

    Add proof of means, translated no-investigation certificate, and health insurance.

    Apply via eKosova

    Submit the family-reunification application online and attend the DCAM appointment with biometrics.

    Pay tax and renew

    Pay the EUR 30 administrative tax; renew within the 30 days before expiry.
