Temporary Residence Permit for Employment
A temporary residence permit allowing non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals to work for an Estonian employer, generally requiring a salary at least equal to the Estonian average gross wage and (in most cases) authorisation from the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund.

Process Steps

Secure a job offer
Obtain a binding employment offer or contract from an Estonian employer meeting the salary threshold.

Employer registration
Where required, the employer obtains authorisation from the Unemployment Insurance Fund or registers the short-term employment.

Submit application
Submit the residence permit application at an Estonian embassy/consulate abroad or at a Police and Border Guard Board service point in Estonia.

Provide biometrics; the application is reviewed within up to 90 days.
